Chelsea Brennan has taken home the gold at the NZ Gymnastics Championships.

Chelsea is a modest 12-year-old from Somerville Intermediate who has been doing gymnastics since she was six.

The event was held at Trusts Arena from July 21-24 and included artistic, rhythmic, aerobics, tumbling and trampolining.

Chelsea competed in women’s artistic step 5 overs (11+) category.

The top 74 gymnasts ranked in the country competed in the apparatus finals on day one where Chelsea placed 2nd on bars, with the top 32 making it through to day 2 for the all-around final where she competed in vault, beam, uneven bars and floor with the highest all-around score earning her the step 5 NZ Champion title.
